This book for me had some high points and some low points.I absolutely loved the first book, it was a little slow in the beginning but picked up in the second half, think book to me seemed like it had the same problem, however unlike the other book it was never resolved. The first had the excitement of adventure, they were on a search for a long-lost Welsh king named Glendower, and there was all of this magic with Cabeswater. This book just seemed to let me down a little bit in this department, it seemed like it was almost at a stand still and seemed to be little progress. I do wish there was a little more of world building in this book because there seemed to be very little. which there was so much in the first book.
Unlike the world building I did feel there was a lot of character development, which this is shown with each of the main characters. To me this was mostly shown with Ronan, I was extremely pleased with his character, I love how this book showed there really was more to him than meets the eye.
Ronan is such a dynamic character, I loved learning about him, and about his dreaming and what happens when he does, to me Ronan was defiantly the highlight of the story. This book left me with some mixed feelings about Adam, I know this is different with most people but I was frustrated with him but I do hope this changes because he is a great character. I wish that Noah played a bigger role in the second book, I feel he was absent more than he was present (I do understand why this is), I hope that now that the problem with Cabeswater is solved that will be remedied in the next book. Blue and Gansey has such a unique relationship, it’s really interesting that we know where it going to end up but we don’t know how we get there and how everything is going to go down.
Regardless of my problems with this book I did really enjoy it, Ronan really saved this book in my eyes, I’m excited to read the next book, I hoped that my issues with this book isn’t shared with the next and that some of them are fixed. If you haven’t started this series yet, you really should it’s an amazing series and I’ve enjoyed it so far and I hope you do as well.
